A commemoration programme tilted ‘Tajuddin Ahmad Commemorative Speech 2012’ was organized by Tajuddin Memorial Trust Fund on Tuesday at the Nabab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban of Dhaka University (DU).
Speakers at the program stressed the need for learning patriotism from the life and activities of Tajuddin Ahmad, the country’s first prime minister.
Tajuddin’s eldest daughter Sharmin Ahmad said, “It is a shame for us that the contribution of Tajuddin remains unnoticed as people hardly know of him except that he was the first prime minister.”
Professor Emeritus Anisuzzaman said, “Tajuddin wanted to raise communism in a democratic way for the country’s own interest unlike China or Soviet Union.”
DU Vice-Chancellor AAMS Arefin Siddique, Pro-vice chancellors Nasreen Ahmad (education) and Shahid Akhter Hossain (administration) and Peace and conflict department founding chairman Dalem Chandra Barman also addressed the occasion chaired by university treasurer Md Kamal Uddin.
